This piece has heavy texture in places. This texture comes from building up heavy layers of paint, which provides a rich history for the piece, not all of which is always visible. The piece is finished with a coat of satin varnish, which helps protect the painting over time. The painting has a satin finish. This piece is mounted on wood panel. It comes wired for hanging. A certificate of authenticity is adhered to the back of the piece using archival-quality adhesive.

This intuitive piece is one of my favorites that I've created yet. I’m still working out what all this abstract is telling me. It has something to do with contrasting our physical experience (steps on a path at bottom right) and our spiritual experience. The heavy shapes on the left represent the mud of this physical world; the white shapes are the soul's escape from its imprisonment in the "chemical dimension". I used lots of pink and purple in this piece, two colors that I hadn’t used too much in my work before. I used heavy body acrylic and some acrylic ink here, mostly using my favorite large flat brush to keep things loose. Lately I’ve been enjoying adding shapes in white above layers of color. These white elements somehow feel alive to me. In “Event Horizon / Der Engel” the white element was an angel, here it feels like a soul in flight.
