This piece has heavy texture in places. This texture comes from building up heavy layers of paint, which provides a rich history for the piece, not all of which is always visible. The piece is finished with a coat of Liquitex satin varnish, which helps protect the painting over time. The painting has a satin/matte finish. This piece is mounted on wood panel. It comes wired for hanging. A certificate of authenticity is adhered to the back of the piece using archival-quality adhesive.

Background of this piece
This piece represents a new workflow for me, one that blends both digital and analog components. When I started my art practice, I leaned pretty heavily to the digital side, using Photoshop to create digital artwork. But as I got deeper into painting, I fell in love with the physicality and immediacy that paint offered, so I set Photoshop aside and have been working solely analog for the last year. But with this new process, I start by creating a digital image; this plays to the strengths of Photoshop, where the layered interface allows me to experiment safely, undoing any changes that don’t work. Once I get the digital image to where I want it in Photoshop, I then paint that onto wood panel, which is what I did here. This results in significantly more bold and complex compositions, due to the increased level of experimentation that I can do with Photoshop. I’m excited to see where this new process takes me!
