Collection: Coastal Textures: Big Sur and Beyond

I keep going back to the same stretch of coast.

Big Sur, Point Lobos, the drop down to Partington Cove. Light doing something I can't explain, and me standing there trying to hold onto it before it moves.

These twelve came out of that. Oil and cold wax, built up with a knife until the surface has real depth to it. Up close it's paint. Ridges, valleys, places where the light catches. Step back and the coast assembles itself.

That in-between distance is the whole thing. The moment before your eye decides what it's looking at. I'm not trying to hand you the answer, I'm trying to hand you the second before it.
